IRP: International Registration Plan
The International Registration Plan is a mutual agreement between the 48 contiguous U.S. states and Canada. It authorizes the registration of commercial motor vehicles to operate among the jurisdictions (states). This means if a truck operates in several jurisdictions, the owner must annually report the mileage driven in each state and the registration fees will be based on the mileage driven in each state.
